Tarpana: Ancient Ritual to Honor Your Ancestors

Thursday, October 17th 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Ayurvedic Health Center

Instructor: Juliet Jivanti, CAP

“The traditional ritual of Tarpana is complex, but its essence is simple. It is much like the All Soul’s tradition, when people visit their relatives in the cemetery.” Dr. Robert Svoboda
Learn this ancient Vedic practice that I learned from Dr. Svoboda while I was studying at the Ayurvedic Institute. This practice of honoring your ancestors is simple and beautiful. We are linked to our ancestors through our DNA. This time of year is a good time to stop and remember your ancestors and cultivate the aspects of your lineage that you appreciate and release those that you choose not to carry forward.
Black sesame seeds, water and milk are offered into a moving body of water accompanied by specific mantras.
We’ll convene at the Ayurvedic Health Center and walk to a nearby location. Preregistration required.
Donations welcome.
