In the yoga world we often think about breathing bio-mechanically (am I using my diaphragm properly?) and psycho-socially (what do my breathing patterns and anxiety have to do with one another?), but we don’t often explore our breath bio-chemically (are my O2 and CO2 levels in balance?). In this course we will explore what the science of respiratory physiology has to say about breathing, bio-chemistry, and our health. We’ll also study what the ancient yogic texts have to say about the practice of pranayama, which is one of the most potent and transformative tools of yoga practice. The teachings of this course will surprise you! And will offer you practical ways to begin creating a functional breathing pattern.
